Green Initiatives

We believe that green initiatives at our school are essential for instilling a love for nature and fostering a sense of responsibility in students to protect and preserve the environment for future generations.

EkoSkola

Our school takes great pride in being part of the EkoSkola programme, which aims to empower students in making sustainable decisions and taking meaningful action supporting these decisions. We have been honoured with the prestigious Green Flag Award for the third consecutive year—an international certification that recognises our school’s dedication to integrating Education for Sustainable Development through a holistic approach. To achieve our sustainability goals, a student-led EkoSkola committee, comprised of students from years four to six, actively engages in brainstorming, discussing, and planning various projects. This inclusive approach allows us to address a wide range of environmental issues and instills a sense of responsibility and leadership in our students as they work towards creating a greener and more environmentally conscious future.

Dinja Waħda

Our environmental education programme, known as Dinja Waħda Primary, is a collaborative effort with the Education Directorate, catering for children aged 5 to 11 years old. Dinja Waħda aims to harness the inherent curiosity and interest that young minds have for the natural world and nurture it into a profound sense of responsibility towards our environment. By engaging children in interactive and educational activities, we raise their awareness about the impact of human actions on the natural world and instil values that encourage sustainable behaviour.

Sustainability

From Kinder to Junior and Senior, environmental awareness and sustainability is a basic underlying tenet of the School’s philosophy. Students are made aware of their surroundings and encouraged to look after them by being proactive and outreaching. Furthermore, initiatives such as Eko Skola and Dinja Waħda are included within the school programme, whilst student committees in both Junior and Senior School take an active role in devising environmentally-friendly projects.
